OREANDA-NEWS. April 05, 2013. The Government plans to rebuild the thermal power plant (TPP) in Svitlodarsk. This was announced by Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Eduard Stavytskyi to the journalists during the briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Moreover, he emphasized that definite terms can be fixed not earlier than in half a year.

“Thus far, the ruins are being cleared and damage to the facilities is being analyzed, top priority measures are taken to replace the damaged dredge pumps for removing coal dust from bunkers in order to prevent self-ignition,” the chief of Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry stressed.

According to the Minister, life maintenance of the town is supported on the proper level. There are no problems with gas and power supplies. There is no danger for energy system of the region and the state as well. In present the commission is working on the place of accident targeting investigation of reasons and circumstances of the accident on Vuglegirska TPP.

At 3:15 p.m. on March 29, 2013 in Svitlodarks of Donetsk region an accident occurred in the second block of Vuglegirska TPP of the Centroenergo company. Infringement of impermeability of coal dust transition system and its ignition is defined as the preliminary cause. The fire embraced 1500 square meters of the construction and destroyed completely four out of seven energy blocks of the station. By 5:40 a.m of March 30, 2013 the fire was extinguished. Vuglegirska TPP located in Svitlodarsk of Donetsk region is the largest energy generating enterprise on the territory of the mentioned region.
