OREANDA-NEWS. April 04, 2013. The European logistics operator GEFCO, which is 75% owned by Russian Railways, has begun cooperating with Toyota in Russia and will provide warehousing for Land Cruiser Prado SUVs in Greater Moscow.

Serial production of the Land Cruiser Prado at Sollers-Bussan in Vladivostok started at the end of February 2013. Initially, the production capacity is 1,000 units per month. The vehicles are aimed at customers in most regions of Russia and will be delivered in rail-car transporters to GEFCO's storage complex in the Domodedovo District of the Greater Moscow Region.

An opening ceremony to mark the beginning of co-operation and the arrival of the first batch of SUVs was held on 20 March 2013 in Domodedovo. Taking part in the ceremony were representatives from Toyota Motor Corporation (Japan), Ltd., Toyota Motor, JSC Sollers-Bussan and Mitsui & Co. Ltd.

The train arrived at the Belye Stolby station in Domodedovo, from where the rail-car transporters were delivered to GEFCO's warehousing complex. The rail link to GEFCO's premises began in December 2012.

The official opening of the first stage of the warehousing and service support for the new vehicles took place in late November 2012.

Domodedovo is GEFCO's second vehicle warehousing complex in the Moscow Region and its fifth in Russia. It was designed on the basis GEFCO's international experience in setting up and managing more than 60 specialised automobile complexes all over the world. The Domodedovo complex was built in the framework of a project which was funded 100% by GEFCO. Since its opening, Domodedovo has warehoused more than 20,000 vehicles.
