Nissan China March Sales Down 17% at 110,000 Vehicles
OREANDA-NEWS. Nissan Motor Co. said that its China sales fell 17% in March from a year earlier, due to the residual impact of a territorial dispute between Beijing and Tokyo.
The company said it sold about 110,000 cars in China last month. Of the total, sales in Dongfeng Motor Co., a 50-50 passenger vehicle joint venture between Nissan and Dongfeng Motor Group Co., fell 27% from the same month last year to 61,300 units.
Japanese carmakers have suffered drops in China sales since the onset of the territorial dispute between the two nations over a group of uninhabited islands in late August.
