OREANDA-NEWS. According to the sales statistics recently released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), the auto industry has got off to a flying start in terms of production and sales in the previous two months. In January and February, 3.3891 million units were sold, up 14.7 percent year on year which showed a trend of fast growth. GWM outperformed other independent brands to sell 113,000 units in January and February, up 38 percent, ranking 6th in the auto industry.
In the previous two months, Haval sold 55,000 units, up 97 percent year on year thus enjoying a comfortable lead over other domestic SUV brands. According to sources, Haval H6 and M4 fall short of demand due to the limit of production capability. After production release, the sales volume of models like Haval H6 and M4 are expected to soar while upgraded models like HavalH6 and H5 will also boost Haval's sales volume.
Additionally, GWM sold 39,000 Great Wall passenger cars in the previous two months, up 18 percent year on year. The performance of upgraded Great Wall C30 was eye-catching upon its launch, with a sales volume of 26,000 units in spite of the Spring Festival holiday. In January and February, 19,000 Wingle pickups were sold, remaining far ahead in the segment. The launch of new models such as Wingle 5-E and Wingle 6 will further consolidate Wingle's lead in sales.
According to CAAM's prediction, the total demand of the Chinese auto market will be around 20.8 million units in 2013, including some 16.8 million passenger vehicles and some 3.85 million commercial vehicles, up 8.5 percent and 1 percent respectively. According to the actual operations of the auto industry in 2011 and 2012 as well as the judgment of the auto market in 2013, the market has entered a stage of stable growth. Affected by the Spring Festival holiday, production and sales are generally dull in the first two months, and the performance in March and April will determine the overall performance in the year, according to Chen Shihua, the director of the Information Department of CAAM.
