OREANDA-NEWS. April 02, 2013. The draft resolution on this matter was voted for by 26 councillors of 50 ones at the sitting on Thursday. In line with the resolution all administrators of markets, flour, car and second-hand cloths ones excluded, have to pay 60 leis per sq.m. Rates for the rest of the markets will be put to the vote at separate sittings, since this Thursday councillors failed to come to an agreement on this matter.

According to Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, “a new tax will have no influence on honest economic entities. They that have avoided taxation will have to pay more”. This decision is a result of a compromise among all parties, Dorin Chirtoaca stressed.

“This is not an ideal solution and we are ready to improve it”, the Mayor of Chisinau said and called it the first step made to right a wrong and make markets administrators pay taxes fairly.

The new tax is expected to bring 24 mln. leis from all markets, including second-hand, car and flour ones. Markets administrators used to pay 20% of annual incomes of the markets.
