OREANDA-NEWS. In the town of Zhukovsky near Moscow the first test flight of the Russian modified military transport aircraft Il-76-MD-90A took place. The aircraft had been manufactured at the ZAO “Aviastar-SP” production facility. This challenging aircraft had been developed by the team designers of the Aviation Complex named after S.V. Ilyushin. The flight Pilot-in-Chief was Nikolay Kuimov, Merited Test Pilot and Hero of the Russian Federation.

The aircraft stayed in flight 1hour 55minutes flying at altitudes of 2000-10000 meters. The declared program was completed in whole scope and it included estimation of the strength characteristics of the aircraft as well as checking the automatic control system, that of navigation equipment and the “glass cabin” systems.

The crew leader said that “all the systems had functioned to meet their operation requirements and the aircraft had demonstrated good stability and controllability characteristics”

At present, the first three Il-76MD-90A serial aircraft are being built at the “Aviastar-SP” production facility. These aircraft are going to be delivered to the Customer in 2014. Previously, the Il-76 family aircraft were manufactured in the Tashkent Aviation Production Factory named after V.P. Chkalov in Tashkent.
