Belarus Ends up with USD 400m Contracts after Lukashenko's Asia Tour
OREANDA-NEWS. During a tour around South-East Asia, a delegation of the Belarusian government has signed business contracts to the tune of USD 400 million, the president’s press-service reported.
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made a statement to this effect at a meeting with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Jakarta on March 19.
Belarus has analyzed the market of Indonesia and offers to supply heavy-duty trucks to facilitate economic and industrial development in South-East Asia.
Lukashenko suggests expanding cooperation in remote sensing of the Earth, mining, laser technologies, nanotechnologies, production of trucks and farming machinery.
Lukashenko pointed to the vast cooperation potential of the two countries. In his words, the sides are considering a number of large-scale investment projects in mechanical engineering and agriculture.
In particular, Lukashenko suggested starting joint ventures to produce Belarusian machinery in Indonesia.
According to the latest reports, Belarus has made an agreement to supply to Indonesia 50 MAZ dump trucks, 20 heavy-duty BelAZ trucks for open-cast mining and 20 MTZ tractors.
In the next 2-3 years Belarus plans to supply to Indonesia another 500 MAZ trucks and around 600 MTZ tractors, road construction equipment.
Furthermore, Belarus has agreed to supply Indonesia with 250,000 tonnes of potash fertilizers in 2013.
