Fruit growing is one of the main agricultural activities in the Maidan Rural District. Most of the MRD’s residents are engaged in fruit growing. It plays a significant role in the generation of family income. All the training participants have orchards, varying from 0.5-2 ha, where they grow cherry, apple, peach and apricot. Many fruit growers in Maidan Rural District have been trying to introduce various practices in order to increase productivity of their orchards over the last years. One of such practices is proper shaping and pruning of fruit trees. With the aim to help the fruit growers in Maidan Rural District to improve income from their orchards, Z-Explorer CJSC supported the local community’s initiative to organize this training.

The training participants have learned more about effective practices of orchard and household area planning, branch shaping and tree pruning, fertilizer application and its proper amounts and pest control. They believe that people are very interested in new practices to improve fruit growing and expressed their hopes that more of such trainings may be conducted for the Maidan community in the future.
