Belarus Imposes Restrictions on Sugar Export from Mar 1 till Aug 31
OREANDA-NEWS. The Government of Belarus has awarded Belarusian sugar refineries an exclusive right to export sugar (CU FEACN 1701 99 100) from March 1 till August 31, 2013.
According government resolution #144 of March 5, 2013, the State Customs Committee and the Interior Ministry are supposed to address the matter within their jurisdiction and prevent sugar exports by entrepreneurs.
Belarus expects other members of the Customs Union to impose similar restrictions.
There are four sugar plants in Belarus (based Gorodeya, Zhabinka, Skidel, Slootsk), which process 28,000 tonnes of sugar beet a day.
Belarus is currently looking for an investor to build a fifth sugar plant in Mogilev Region.
Belarus is expected to produce 720,000 tonnes of white sugar in 2015.
