Ukraine, Georgia to Speed Up Implementation of Joint Projects
OREANDA-NEWS. March 28, 2013. During a visit to Tbilisi (Georgia) a bilateral meeting between the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Eduard Stavitskyi and Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia Kakha Kaladze was held.
During a meeting Eduard Stavitskyi noted a significant, untapped as of today at most potential of Ukrainian-Georgian cooperation in the energy sphere.
"Oil and gas cooperation between Ukraine and Georgia, and in particular the implementation of the Euro-Asian Oil Transportation Corridor undoubtedly remains one of the priorities in the energy sector of Ukraine," Eduard Stavytskyi stressed.
In addition, the projects of international importance in the gas sector are equally important for the two countries. "Ukraine supports Georgia's gas transportation projects AGRI and "White Stream" and interested in their success," said the head of Minenergouglya.
The minister also said that Ukraine is interested in the participation in the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline project, implementation of which will significantly increase the volume of natural gas transit through the territory of Georgia. It's about using the Ukrainian gas transport system to Georgia’s supply of gas to Europe via TANAP, supply pipes of Ukrainian production for the implementation of the TANAP and more.
At the end of the meeting the parties agreed to conduct an active dialogue in the energy direction, and speed up the implementation of joint projects.
