OREANDA-NEWS. March 28, 2013. Results of the Republican contest "Philanthropist of the Year - 2012" were summed up. JSC TATNEFT is again among the winners in the category "Long-term partnership".

The awarding ceremony was held in the Tatar Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet (TAGTOiB) named after Musa Jalil. The event was attended by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, State Advisor of the Republic of Tatarstan, First President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Mukhametshin, State Council Chairman of the Republic of Tatarstan, representatives of Ministries and Departments of the Republic of Tatarstan, heads of the municipal areas of the Republic of Tatarstan, managers of large industrial enterprises of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as directors of foster homes, welfare shelters, orphans and families with adopted children.

The Republican contest is an annual event and it is held with the objective of expanding and developing charitable activities aimed at solving social and economic problems of the Republic, social support for children, disabled persons, elderly persons and other vulnerable population categories.

Head of the Republic pointed out in his address that the results of the Republican contest "Philanthropist of the Year" were summed up this day for the sixth time. The Contest initiated in 2007 by Mintimer Shaimiev has become a traditional and popular event. Tatarstan charity has become a mass social phenomenon. According to R. Minnikhanov, as a result of the joint actions of the government and society the republican organizations are becoming socially responsible companies. The advanced system of rendering philanthropic assistance greatly facilitates resolving of many controversial social issues to support large families, the ones related to health care for disabled children, orphans living arrangements and many other issues. Rustam Minnikhanov summarized: "We have to go to a qualitatively new level of charity development taking into account specific features of our national culture and history. We can do a lot together".

The Head of the Republic awarded the winners in the category "Long-term partnership". The President of the Republic of Tatarstan presented the winner diploma to Shafagat Takhautdinov, General Director of JSC TATNEFT. Among the awardees there were leaders of other largest enterprises of the Republic, such as "Gazprom-transgaz-Kazan", JSC "Grid Company", JSC "Nizhnekamskneftekhim", JSC "TAIF", "Behetle".

In the frame of the contest the winners were also determined in such categories as "Large and medium-sized enterprises", "Small Business Enterprises", "Self-Employed Entrepreneurs", "Non-Profit Enterprises", "Individuals", "Philanthropic Foundations", "Media". Family with many children received keys to new cars.

The State Song and Dance Ensemble of the Republic of Tatarstan and children's creative vocal and dance groups performed for the participants of the ceremony.
