OREANDA-NEWS. Sberbank CIB, the corporate and investment banking unit of the Sberbank Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Weller as Head of FX Trading, Managing Director. He will join Sberbank CIB, will be based in Moscow and will report to Maxim Safonov, Head of the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities Division (FICC Division), Managing Director.

Steven has over two decades of experience in the foreign exchange markets in London, Singapore and Frankfurt. From 2004-2009, he worked at Barclays Capital, where he spent over four years as Head of Foreign Exchange, Managing Director, for the Asia-Pacific region. During this time, he managed a team of over twenty-five traders and jointly oversaw regional sales, IBD, e-commerce and research. He was also instrumental in expanding and managing the company’s Asia-Pacific FX business during a period of geographical transition from Tokyo to Singapore. Prior to this, Steven worked as Executive Director, Global Head of FX Spot and Trading at Lehman Brothers, a role he moved to after a decade at Citigroup in London and Frankfurt. Most recently, he has been engaged in various personal and professional projects.

This appointment is the latest in a number of senior hires as Sberbank CIB continues to strengthen its broad industry capabilities and enhance its position as market leader. The Global Markets team has recently seen a number of senior additions including Bill Beller as Head of Equity Options Trading, Robert Hagon as Co-Head of Equity Sales Trading, Managing Director, Peter Holowka as Head of E-FX, Managing Director, and Dean Tyler who was appointed as Head of International FICC Sales, Managing Director.
