Wizz Air Announces Five Low Fare Routes from Bologna
OREANDA-NEWS. Wizz Air, the largest low-cost, low-fare airline in Central and Eastern Europe, announced five routes to be operated from Bologna Airport from 31 March to Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Tirgu Mures and Sofia. These routes are expected to carry over 220,000 passengers in the first year of operations. Wizz Air already operates from 14 Italian airports and its fleet of 40 new Airbus A320 flies to 30 countries on over 260 routes. This new passenger growth at Bologna Airport is also good news for consumers wishing to fly from Bologna on Wizz Air’s direct international services. Fares on these routes are available from as low as EUR22.99 and can be booked on wizzair.com.
Speaking today in Bologna, Daniel de Carvalho, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air, said: “Flying directly from Bologna Airport to capital cities such as Bucharest or Sofia and other exciting destinations is now possible thanks to Wizz Air’s low fares. From 31 March we will switch all our routes currently operated from Forli to Bologna. We hope our customers will enjoy the more centrally located Bologna Airport and its excellent facilities when travelling. We encourage our passengers to arrive early for their flights and enjoy the shopping opportunities at Bologna Airport. As always, airport duty free purchases can be carried on board Wizz Air aircraft with no extra payment. Our low fares and excellent service are set to attract passengers at Bologna to try Wizz Air’s five routes to Bulgaria and Romania and we look forward to a good partnership with Bologna Airport.”
Antonello Bonolis, Aviation Business and Corporate Communication Manager at Bologna Airport, said: “Eastern Europe is an important market for the Bologna area. The market is fast growing and more and more people are increasing their relationships with all the Central and Eastern European Countries. Whether they are entrepreneurs investing there or local tradesmen looking for good business in our region or even tourists looking for enchanting places to visit or simply residents from those countries rejoining their families, they all need to travel in a convenient way and they’re all looking for “value for money”. This vision is something we definitely shared with WizzAir and today we’re glad to rekindle our cooperation. As a first step, we focused on two of the most important countries in the Balcans, but we have plans to expand to other destinations in the next future. This partnership is strategic for both parties and we are sure it will give our region outstanding opportunities.”
