The companies were granted 10-12 thou. euros upon average each. She mentioned that beneficiaries chiefly do business in the cleaning, retail and wholesale, sewing and even IT areas.

In 2013, as before, under the program grants will be provided and trainings will be organized, veronica Arpintin said. “We are also trying to convince banks to develop a special product for businesswomen. Women repay credits in 95% of cases and are worthy of special conditions”, the ЕБРР BAS Moldova manager thinks. Ambassador of Sweden to Moldova Ingrid Tersman noted she was satisfied with results of the program.

“We can say that money paid by Sweden taxpayers was not wasted. But it is premature to say whether we continue supporting the program after 2013. All depends on the demand for the program”, she said. Women in Business is the program launched by BAS Moldova under financial support by the Sweden government with the total commitment of close to 1 mln euros. It was launched in 2012 and will last till 2014.

The program is available for start-ups and women intended to launch their own businesses. A company applying for the program must be administrated by or belong to a woman or employ women mostly. The bulk of the capital of the beneficiary must belong to local investors.
