OREANDA-NEWS. “Zaporizhstal” I&SW announced about startup of the social projects competition “We are the city” for the best social projects among the public, municipal institutions and city residents. The budget of funds allocated by the Works for realization of the social projects within the framework of the competition makes up UAH 500 thousand.

The aim of the competition “We are the city”, held within the framework of the social programmes of “Zaporizhstal” I&SW, is the development of social activity of local population and maintaining of the actual projects realization, which are directed to creation of innovative approaches to the solution of social problems and to increase the city’s comfort. The winners of the competition, who suggested the best projects, would be able to get financing facility up to UAH 50 thousand for realization of their ideas.

"While assessing the suggestions, we shall prefer the system-based projects, which are oriented to the development of Zaporozhye, to a long-term perspective. It is important for us that the initiative should come from the society, it would be a guarantee for a prudent and responsible attitude towards everything that would be implemented within the framework of the programme “We are the city”, — the General Director of “Zaporizhstal” I&SW Rostislav Shurma underlined.

The competition is arranged in three stages: training of the participants and forwarding the applications, considering and expert testimony of the projects, determination of the winners and realization of the mostly interesting and perspective offers. The stage of forwarding applications for participation will last until the 30th of April, 2013. Non-profit-making organizations (public organizations, charity funds, unities, associations etc.) may become the participants of the competition; city’s, (regional, settlement’s, others) administrations; government and municipal institutions. Initiative public groups and citizens may take part in the competition through the organization which meets the conditions of the competition.

 Assessment of the projects would be carried out by the Expert Council on the grounds of the approved criteria — great demand and project feasibility, the degree of the project idea development, originality, social importance, stability of the project after fulfillment of financing. The Expert Council includes: The General Director of JSC “Zaporizhstal” Rostislav Shurma, the First Deputy of the Chairman of Zaporozhye Regional State Administration Peter Goncharuk, the Secretary of Zaporozhye City’s Council Roman Taran, People’s Deputy of the Supreme Council of Ukraine of VII-th Convening Eugeniy Kartashov, Rector of ZSTU Sergey Belikov, Rector of ZSEA Vladymyr Pozhuyev, Rector of ZNU Nikolay Frolov, Rector of ZSMU Yuriy Kolesnik, Rector of KPU Viktor Ogarenko, Senior Editor of "МТМ" TV chanel Liudmyla Mariniuk, Manager on the Problems of Regional Development of JSC “Zaporizhstal” Anatoliy Pustovarov, Secretary of the Youth City’s Council Viktoria Agentayeva, Head of the city’s organization of Veterans of Ukraine Viktor Korolenko. The Expert Council is authorized to assess and to take a decision on financing of the projects proposed by the competitors.

 “This important social programme provides not only the brilliant chance to all the citizens who is not indifferent, to suggest their own viewing of development and provision of urban amenities of the native city, but also to realize these ideas in practice. Besides, it will make each citizen to think deep about his personal input to the development of native Zaporozhye city”, — the People’s Deputy of the Supreme Council of Ukraine of VII-th Convening Eugeniy Kartashov noted.
