OREANDA-NEWS. Over the past week NCOC has hosted events to hand over 31 sponsorship and donation projects to residents of Mangistau and Atyrau Regions.

Among the 20 recipients in the first S&D handover for 2013 in Mangistau Region were the library for blind and visually impaired residents, Aktau’s maternity hospital which received highly-sophisticated equipment, Aktau’s School No11 which was also equipped. In Tupkaragan District the Consortium equipped schools, kindergartens, libraries, surgeries, and arranged training courses for medical staff of the hospital.

In Atyrau Region the Consortium handed over 11 projects: Atyrau’s city hospital was provided with medical equipment, Schools No14 and No10 in Atyrau and Small Academy of Arts were provided with musical instruments and sports equipment and Baldyrgan kindergarten was furnished.

The handover events attracted the attention of almost 20 local and national media outlets. One of them is the newspaper “Aqtau” which led on a quote from head doctor of a local maternity hospital Z. Zhamanbayeva, who said: “You have made hundreds of women happy with the conditions you created for such an important event as giving birth to a new life." "With the help of equipment provided by the Consortium, we would be able to significantly improve the quality and capacity of local medicine,” she added.

The newspaper “Tumba” concurred: “We are glad that there are companies and public organizations and philanthropists in the region who help those in need. The most famous among the sponsors here is NCOC.“

The Consortium’s S&D programme received positive coverage in Atyrau as well where the newspaper “West Kazakhstan” quoted one of the beneficiaries and head doctor of Atyrau’s city hospital, M. Konysov, as saying: "Our hospital is a specialized institution for provision of medical care to people suffering from cardiovascular diseases. The equipment provided by the Consortium would allow us to improve significantly the quality of medical services, which is critical for our patients."

In 2012, the Consortium handed over to both regions almost a hundred S&D projects, with a total value of 210 mln tenge (around USD 1,393,127.23865), focusing on economic sustainability and welfare, health, education, culture, cultural heritage, sports or underprivileged people.
