Landscape Reserves in Dnipropetrovsk Region Increased in 2,5 Times
OREANDA-NEWS. March 19, 2013. The area of landscape reserves in Dnipropetrovsk Region increased by 2.5 times for three years. This was announced by vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul at a meeting of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council.
"At today's session we consider the establishment of two new landscape reserves in Verhnyodniprovsk district. Thus, 27 new preserved areas have already been created for three years in the Dnipropetrovsk Region. This increase the territory of such areas in the region in two and a half time," Oleksandr Vilkul said.
He stressed that as of today, the total area of preserved areas in the Dnipropetrovsk Region is 78 hectares or 2.5% of its territory. In 2010 this figure was 1%.
"An integral part of the development projects of the region is greening and introduction of energy-saving technologies. We have to strictly follow the implementation of regional environmental programs. This includes increasing the area of nature reserves and forests - the "green lungs" of the Dnipropetrovsk Region", Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine summed up.
As previously reported, under the regional environmental programs in Dnipropetrovsk Region in 2010-2012 to 15% emissions in the city Dnepropetrovsk, and 10% in Krivoy Rog were reduced. Discharges to the Dnipro within the regional center reduced by 70%.
