OREANDA-NEWS. SSE, Ireland’s fastest growing and third largest energy utility, has announced the acquisition of its new corporate headquarters for Ireland at Leopardstown, Dublin 18.

SSE Ireland’s new flagship building is located at South County Business Park and replaces its existing base in a rental property in nearby Sandyford.

The property, which will provide a new home for up to 650 full time SSE Ireland staff, comprises around 7,500 sq m (82,000 sq ft) of open plan accommodation across five floors. The modern office building, which is recently constructed, has been completed to the highest specification with a class-leading rating for energy efficiency.

Fit-out works have commenced and SSE, which is the first occupant of the building, expects to transfer to the new location from its current Sandyford base during the summer.

Gregor Alexander, Finance Director of SSE and its Lead Director for Ireland, said:

“In the five years since SSE entered the all-Ireland energy supply market, the company has grown to a position where it is rapidly becoming Ireland’s broadest-based energy utility, reflecting our position in GB. The acquisition by SSE of a new corporate headquarters for its Irish business is another landmark for the company in Ireland. By replacing an existing rental property with a corporate headquarters that we now own, we’re making a long-term commitment to our Irish business and to our Irish team.

“The acquisition is in line with SSE’s stated commitment to its core markets in the UK and Ireland and represents a further significant investment by SSE towards improving the efficiency of our Irish business as it grows to become the second largest energy utility on the island.”
