OREANDA-NEWS. NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport hosted Mi-8T helicopter on habitual base for twenty-four-hour service within the air space search and rescue system of Rosaviatsiya (Federal Air Transport Agency).

With flight range exceeding 450 km, Mi-8T helicopter is fitted with necessary equipment providing search and evacuation of people injured in a flight accident (crash or emergency landing etc.) in the territory of the Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk regions and the Altai. Pre-departure time after receiving a signal from Regional Coordination Search and Rescue Unit (RCU) makes up 30 minutes in summer and 45 minutes during winter season.

While conducting search and rescue operations, besides the crew consisting of three people, there is a rescue paraborne group on board of Mi-8T helicopter comprising a medical assistant and two paramedics of Novosibirsk Regional Search and Rescue Base (branch of the Federal State Institution Siberian Aviation Search and Rescue Center) with all equipment necessary for search and first aid rendering to the injured in a flight accident.

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The airport has two runways. The airport has been nominated for World Routes Awards in the category “The Best Airport of CIS 2012”.Federal State Institution “Siberian Aviation Search and Rescue Center” is a subordinated authorities of Rosaviatsiya which comprises 12 search-and rescue bases in the Siberian Federal District. 16 aircrafts pull duty in the territory of the district including Mi-8 helicopters, An-26 and An-2 airplanes.
