OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2013. The installation works of the high vacuum electric flashboard valves for the two stainless steel high vacuum spheres (respectively designed with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters and 5,000 cubic meters) in Sichuan Province was smoothly completed.

These spheres are contracted by the Steel Structure Company of China First Metallurgical Construction Group (CFMCC Group), which are the largest ones in China. With a weight of 32 tons, the flashboard valve is regarded as the largest one in Asia and is very difficult for installation.

The abovementioned flashboard valve is a link between the sphere and the pipeline. It plays a key role on adjustment of air source during the vacuum testing of the sphere, thus is featured by strict requirements on tightness. The valve is 8m in height, 3.3m in width and 1.95m in thickness, with a weight of 32 tons. The Project Division of the Steel Structure Company of CFMCC Group adopted the technical process of Round Steel Rolling Method for this works and fulfilled the installation on site instead of in the workshop.

The successful completion of this works symbolizes the leading professional capability of CFMCC Group on the manufacturing and installation of pressure vessel, providing the valuable experiences for the installation of seal-on-one-side high vacuum electric flashboard valve of 28 tons in the follow-up stage.
