OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2013. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, within February, 2012 – February, 2013 inflation was 4.3%. Inflation was 0.5% in February, 2012, 0.8% in January – February, 2012 and 6.1% in February, 2011-February, 2012.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in February, 2013 prices for foodstuff went 0.2% up, prices for nonfoods increased 0.4% ; tariffs for services grew 0.1%. In February, 2012 prices increased 3.8% for bacon, 2.6% for grapes, 1.3% for fresh vegetables. Cucumbers went up 5.7%, tomatoes increased 1.9% in prices, onions went up 1.3% and prices for cabbage grew 1.2%. Prices for milk and dairy products increased 1%, growing 1.8% for sour cream, 1.3% for whole milk and 1.1% for cottage cheese.

Prices for sugar, flour and potatoes grew 1.3%. Wheat-flour bread went up 0.5%. Among non-foods, in February 2013 the greatest increase in prices was registered for fuel, which went up 1.4%, namely combustibles increased 1.7%, and bottled gas grew 3.6% in prices. Prices grew 0.7% for foot wear, 0.5% for cloths and building materials. Cigarettes went up 1.4%. In February, tariffs for outbound tourism grew 1.3%, taxi prices increasing 1.2%. In February, prices declined 16.3% for eggs, 0.9% for fresh fruit.

For example, citruses and seed fruits cheapened 1.9% and 1.8% respectively. Prices also decreased 0.8 for pork, 0.5% for beef and 0.3% for vegetable oil. Prices for fur coats for men decreased 1.3%; winter skirts, winter foot wear for women and children cheapened by 0.3% to 0.7%. Prices for international railway transportation decreased 1.8%. Inflation made up 4.1% in Moldova in 2012. NBM has downgraded its forecast for inflation in Moldova in 2013 from 5.3% to 4.1%.
