OREANDA-NEWS. In order to create a sustainable R&D backlog, involve young specialists in research work and develop the mechanisms of attracting the most qualified personnel to work for the Company, NPO Saturn has launched a program of involving university students in R&D work for the Company’s prospective developments.

In the course of the program the participants will be granted individual scholarships awarded by NPO Saturn. At the moment these are 11 people – the 3rd and the 4th-year students from the P.A. Solovyev Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University (RGATU) with the average rating over 4.0 (on a scale of 5). The young scientists supervised by the experts of the NPO Saturn design and development bureau carry out research projects and solve complex tasks for NPO Saturn.

In the framework of the program, a competition between the full-time postgraduate students to win a scholarship in relation to various fields of NPO Saturn’s activity got underway. At the end of March the results will be drawn for the competition entitled: “Application of composites in design of gas-turbine engines” which implies participation of the first-year postgraduate students from P.A. Solovyev RGATU, MAI, PNIPU, Bauman MGTU and some other Universities.

This program was tailored and adopted by the NPO Saturn Science and Engineering Board headed by Yuri Shmotin. The program was supported by Ilya Fedorov, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer. The implementation phase began in January 2013. In the R&D activity the program involves not only the students and professors from P.A. Solovyev RGATU as the NPO Saturn baseline University but from other Russian technical schools such as MAI, PNIPU,

SGAU, KAI, Bauman MGTU and others.
