OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Power India’s largest integrated power company has constructed a platform at the Railway line within the premises of its Jojobera Power Station for storing raw materials like coal unloading and rack loading for ash bags dispatching.

In the first phase of the installation a platform 270 m long and 20 m wide has been constructed. These dimensions ensure that 28 wagons and 4 rows of ash stacking per wagon be accommodated on the platform, which means that a total of 112 wagons ash stack can be placed on the platform for loading purpose.

Owing to the fact that there was no permanent infrastructure available for stacking, this installation will prevent stacking of ash bags on plain mud and speed up the procedure of Fly Ash to North East India Cement Industries.

This project has benefited the operations at the Jojobera Power Station by:

Providing a permanent infrastructure for ash rack loading

Avoiding accidental derailment

Reduction in demurrage charge

Reduction in time for placement of wagons from one track to other track

Commenting on the construction of the much needed platform, Mr D S Kudalkar, Head-Jojobera Station, said, “The rail platform will ease ash disposal to North Eastern states and provide good storage space for fly ash which in turn will help in proper and timely ash disposal. We at Tata Power are committed towards operational excellence and such small initiatives go a long way in ensuring that procedures are carried out in an efficient way. We will continue with expansion and addition of these platforms in Jojobera and other stations whenever needed.”
