OREANDA-NEWS.  Privolzhskoe Customs Directorate held a workshop fully devoted to KAMAZ’s trademark at the Tatarstan Customs.

All customs of Privolzhskoe Customs Directorate participated in the workshop held in the form of a video conference. The event took place to execute a decision of the Advisory Council for cooperation with the participants of foreign economic activity working at Privolzhskoe Customs Directorate. Tatarstan’s Customs set a task to suppress illegal transfer of counterfeit products containing intellectual property of OJSC KAMAZ through the border of the Customs Union. OJSC KAMAZ was represented by Renat Shuvarov, chief legal adviser on intellectual property issues of the company’s legal department.

The problem of protecting intellectual property rights is usually connected with counteraction to the spread of counterfeit products, especially components. The low quality of fake products discredits the quality of genuine products. And customs employees’ assistance in the struggle against counterfeits is very important for KAMAZ. The participants of the workshop learned how to detect counterfeits with illegally used trademarks of KAMAZ and saw the presentation of differences between genuine and counterfeit products. The representative of KAMAZ told about the company’s trademarks, characteristics of packages of genuine KAMAZ spare parts. He told what stickers were put on KAMAZ genuine spare parts and how KAMAZ genuine packages were marked. Special attention was paid to the list of organizations which are the main suppliers of products to OJSC KAMAZ’s assembly line.

OJSC KAMAZ’s well-known trademarks are the image of a running horse, the words KAMAZ in Roman and КАМАЗ in Cyrillic (well-known in the Russian Federation). Exactly these trademarks are used in counterfeits more often. To combat counterfeits, OJSC KAMAZ with its subsidiary OOO Avtozapchast KAMAZ introduced its brand-name packages and bags with protective seals. Besides, KAMAZ’s registered trademarks are slogans which can be translated from Russian into English as follows: “Tanks are not afraid of mud!”, “Winners’ technologies”, and “Carries everything – lucky in everything!”
