Protection of Consumers Rights Named Priority of Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. March 11, 2013. The State Inspection of Ukraine for the Protection of Consumers’ Rights continues its activity in the direction. The proof of it is growth of the number of decisions taken in favour of consumers. This was informed by the head of State Inspection of Ukraine for Protection of Consumers’ Rights Serhiy Orekhov during a briefing of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
“Besides, after coming in effect from December 16, 2012 the Law of Ukraine on ban of smoking in bars and restaurants the spectrum of our control has significantly enlarged – the system of the State Inspection of Ukraine started receiving complaints about failure or violation of anti-tobacco legislation,” he emphasized.
Serhiy Orekhov underlined that control over following requirements of anti-tobacco legislation had been determined by the State Inspection of Ukraine for Protection of Consumers’ Rights as a topical task for all territorial bodies for 2013. 110 checks have already been conducted. In 32 cases there were revealed facts of smoking in the institutions or facts of presence of ashtrays. The total sum of fines made up UAH 44 thousand.
Moreover, according to the head of State Inspection of Ukraine for Protection of Consumers’ Rights in compliance with the Plan of joint actions of MIA of Ukraine, State Inspection of Ukraine for Protection of Consumers’ Rights and State Tax Service of Ukraine a series of joint activities were carried out and directed to prevention to consuming by children of alcohol beverages and tobacco goods. In total, it facilitated reduction of consuming by underage persons of tobacco goods and alcohol by 17% all around Ukraine.
