RZD Network Loads 93,9 m Tons in February 2013
OREANDA-NEWS. March 11, 2013. According to the latest figures, in February 2013 the Russian Railways’ network loaded 93.9 m tons of freight, 3.2% less than in February 2012, but average daily loading increased by 0.3% compared to February 2012.
Freight turnover in February 2013 decreased to 163.8 billion tariff ton-km, a fall of 3.8% compared to February 2012. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs in February 2013 period decreased by 2% to 210.3 billion ton-km.
According to the latest figures, total loading in January-February 2013 amounted to 189 m tons, 4.8% less than in February 2012.
In January-February 2013, the railways shipped the following freight. Figures in brackets show the percentage change compared to the same two months in 2012.
coal – 51.4 m tons (+0.9%);
coke – 2 m tons (-1.9%);
oil and petroleum products – 42.3 m tons (-2.4%);
iron and manganese ores – 17 m tons (-0.9%);
ferrous metals – 11.6 m tons (-7.4%);
ferrous metal scrap – 1.6 m tons (-5.5%);
chemical and mineral fertilisers – 7.6 m tons (-0.3%);
cement – 3.7 m tons (-0.4%);
timber – 5.5 m tons (-7.2%);
grain and milled products – 1.9 m tons (-50.1%);
construction materials – 20.8 m tons (-11.7%);
non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock– 3.3 m tons (-9.3%);
chemicals and soda– 4.5 m tons (-5.2%);
industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 4.1 m tons (-16%).
Since the beginning of 2013, freight turnover was down 5.6% and amounted to 342.2 billion tariff ton-km, while freight turnover including empty wagon runs fell by 5.1% to 437.3 billion ton-km.
