OREANDA-NEWS. March 11, 2013. Within the framework of action “Honest kilowatt”, JSC “Moscow United Electric Grid Company” is increasing a struggle with electric power thievery. In this context the joint raids of the power engineers with the representatives of the administrations of the municipal formations and law enforcement authorities have proved themselves to be good.

This year only the specialists of the Western Electric Grids – branch of JSC “MOESK” have already carried out over one hundred raids. 24 acts on the unauthorized consumption of 1,279,814 kWh for the sum of over RUR 3,5 mln have been drawn up. For comparison: approximately such quantity of electric power is consumed per month 35 nine-storied houses or one large regional center. 23 acts for 185,068 kWh on the non-accounted consumption have been also drawn up.

In the course of one of the recent planned arrangements to suppress energy thievery in Naro-Fominsk district, the branch’s employees fixed a fact of the unauthorized connection to a power transmission line of a dweller of village Shustikovo. He consumed unlawfully electric power since March of 2011 by way of a rather primitive device – a “throwing on” on the wires of 0,4 kV overhead line. A volume of the unlawfully consumed energy has turned out to be rather big – 56,8 kWh.

In the course of the raid an act was drawn up, under which a violator will have to pay RUR 142,5 ths. The unauthorized device of electric power withdrawal has been dismantled.
Let us specify, that the raids to reveal electric power thieveries and the work with the problem consumers, not having energy supply contracts, – is not a single action. The power engineers strive to control the subsequent actions of the violators, in order to exclude any manifestation of energy thievery recurrence.

It can be both a penalty and deprivation of liberty”.
