OREANDA-NEWS. Transaero Airlines General Director Olga Pleshakova is named the most influential business woman in Russia in accordance with a new ranking of Russia’s 100 most powerful women presented by four domestic media outlets: Ekho Moskvy radio station, Interfax and RIA Novosti news agencies and Ogonyok weekly magazine.

The list of 2012 includes women in leadership positions who influenced decision-making in politics or business, as well as those who had an impact on public opinion by virtue of their professional or public activities.

Olga Pleshakova tops the ranking of 2012 in Business category while she was among top three business women in the list of the previous year.

The list was compiled by a panel of 43 people, including State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, editors-in-chief of the key Russian newspapers. Representatives of all State Duma factions were also among members of the panel.

As head of Transaero Ms Pleshakova has developed and integrated quality management technologies into airline operations that are unique to the Russian air transport industry. Transaero has achieved impressive operational and financial results during the 12-year tenure of Ms Pleshakova. The airline has increased its RPK 45.5 times and passenger traffic 26 times, developed the largest long-haul widebody fleet in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe and has become the second largest Russia’s airline.

Last year Fortune magazine put Olga Pleshakova on the list of 50 top most powerful business women. Olga Pleshakova is the only representative of Russia in the international ranking.
