OREANDA-NEWS. RusHydro JSC and Power Machines OJSC have signed turn-key contracts to manufacture and supply 42 sets of excitation systems* for hydropower units of Volzhskaya and Zhigulevskaya HPPs.

In accordance with the contractual terms, Power Machines OJSC are to manufacture and supply 22 sets of hydrogenerator excitation systems for Volzhskaya HPP and 20 sets of similar equipment for Zhigulevskaya HPP. Besides, Power Machines specialists are to provide supervision services during the equipment installation and commissioning, as well as to carry out training for the HPP staff. Deliveries will begin in 2013 and be completed in 2017. The equipment replacement is carried out within the framework of the Program for Comprehensive Upgrade implemented by RusHydro.

The excitation systems produced by Power Machines OJSC are high-end modern equipment that uses innovative technologies allowing to compete with similar equipment produced by major domestic and foreign manufacturers. In accordance with RusHydro’s technical requirements, the new equipment will have a modular design thus enabling to carry out the data systems maintenance without disconnecting the generator from the network.

* - The excitation systems are designed to supply automatically adjustable constant current power to the generator excitation windings.
