In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed matters concerning development of international trade and prospects of economic cooperation between members of Russia and U.K.’s business communities. Special emphasis was made on issues connected with operations of small and medium-sized businesses of the two countries in a new economic environment.

According to Mr. Thompson, the meeting will undoubtedly make a certain contribution to the development of international trade relations.

Mr. Salamatov, in his turn, said that bilateral ties between British and Russian businessmen have acquired special importance after Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
