French Companies Want to Expand Businesses in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2013. This was spoken about at meetings between Deputy Minster of Economy Octavian Calmic and representatives of French companies interested in expanding their businesses to the market of Moldova. The meetings were held in the framework of seminar “Investment opportunities in Moldova. Advantages of promoting trans-frontier investments”.
The seminar was organized in Bucharest at the initiative by Moldova’s Investment and Export Promotion Organization (MIEPO), French Agency for Development of International Entrepreneurship UBIFRANCE and CCI France-Moldova. Representatives of Vinci expressed interest in building a 5-star hotel in Chisinau in partnership with an international hotel group, implementing infrastructure projects and building a hypermarket in partnership with an international distribution chain. Octavian Calmic welcomed the idea of opening the hypermarket in Chisinau since arrival to Moldova an international distribution chain with all facilities necessary will help to improve competitiveness of goods and to reduce prices for them.
Deputy Minister of Economy expressed hope for the deep trade area between Moldova and the EU to be created in 2014, providing the zero duty on industrial and agricultural products, with the exception of sensitive goods fir which there would be a transitive period. According to him, they who will enter the market with practical solutions will achieve success, since current chains of Moldova are not connected to international hubs.
During his visit to Bucharest Octavian Calmic met representatives of companies producing fertilizers and biostimulants and representatives of Eurocopter, which holds 18% of the global market of military helicopters and 44% of the market of civil ones.
Representatives of Eurocopter expressed interest in supplying helicopters for needs of the Health and Defence Ministries and law-enforcement departments.
