OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2013. Owning to growth rates in the livestock industry, this year meat consumption per capita per year would be 55.3 kilogram.

This growth occurs, including, due to the continued government support programs for livestock. This was started by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

"Last year we stabilized and even increased the number of cattle in all categories of economies. Favorable trends in livestock in early 2013 confirm our predictions about increasing meat consumption to 55.3 kilogram per capita per year," Mykola Prysyazhnyuk noted.

As for the livestock at the beginning of the year, then as of February 1 cattle numbers totaled 4.7 million head, it is 4.5% up compared to the same period last year. Pig stock also increased by 3.7%.
