Bad Credits in Banking System of Moldova Made 14,6%
OREANDA-NEWS. March 04, 2013. According to the National Bank of Moldova, they grew 1.1 p.p. as compared with past January. The balance of bad credits in total regulatory capital decreased 0.3 p.p. from 32.4% at the end of December 2012 to 32.1% as of the end of January, 2013.
As compared with past January, it increased 3.6 p.p. At the same time, non-performing assets decreased 0.7 p.p. from 46% in December to 45.3% in January, 2013, but grew 5.4 p.p. as compared with past January. The calculated allowances for assets and conditional commitments increased 1.4% from 4 bln. 719 mln. leis in December, 2012 to 4 bln. 786.3 mln. leis in January, 2013. As compared with past January, they increased 39.2%.
Total allowances for losses from formed impairments for assets and conditional commitments were 2 bln. 158.3 mln. leis against 2 bln. 143,9 mln. leis as of the end of December (+0,7%) and 1 bln. 443,7 mln. leis as of the end of January, 2012 (+49.5%). Assets of 5 largest banks in the total amount of assets increased from 70.4% in January, 2012 and December, 2012 to 71% in January, 2013.
The balance of loans (the principal sum) made up 34 bln. 992,6 mln. leis against 34 bln. 982,3 mln. leis registered in December, 2012. As compared with past January, it increased 14.9%.
