OREANDA-NEWS. February 26, 2013. From the beginning of repair activities, started from February 12, 45% of pits and potholes has been liquidated in major roads of the country. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov was informed by leaders of the State Road Agency.

According to the UkrAutoDor data, 178 160 square meters out of 2 631 kilometers of principal public roads were struck as a result of winter temperature fluctuations. It is twofold more than usually after winter.

As of February 20, covering was resumed on 1812 kilometers of roadbed. The road workers have already removed pits and potholes on 80 323 square meters.
 
The most affected were the following roads: Zhytomyr – Chernivtsi, Ulyanovka – Mykolayiv, Kyiv – Chernihiv – New Yarylovychih, Kyiv – Odessa, Stryi – Ternopil – Kyrovohrad – Znamyanka, Dnipropetrovsk – Mykolayiv.

For now it has remained to hold repair works on 97837 square meter of roads or 55% of the revealed pits. In certain speedways the amounts of not-repaired areas still remain significant. In particular, Kyiv – Sumy – Yunakivka have 84% potholes to be liquidated, Zhytomyr – Chernivtsi - 81%, Odessa – Reni – 80%.

The Premier of Ukraine has commissioned to stir up the speed of road works, to maximally use a period of favorable weather.
