RZD, KUIMS International Medical Centre Sign Cooperation Agreement
OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2013. Oleg Atkov, Vice President at Russian Railways responsible for Train Health, and Dr. Moon Suh Park, President of the International Medical Centre at Kyung Hee University (KUIMS), the largest university in South Korea, signed a cooperation agreement in Moscow.
The agreement provides for a wide range of cooperation, ranging from joint scientific and research work to the formation and development of a network of medical support and rehabilitation at railway clinics for patients from Siberia and the Far East.
Also covered by the agreement are the training of medical specialists on joint internships, joint symposia and workshops, the development of telemedicine, video broadcasting of surgical operations, panels of doctors with the possibility of involving leading physicians from other countries and the joint development and implementation of new medical technologies and electronic health records.
"At the moment, the Company has already involved two efficient clinics in the cooperation with the Korean side. One is the Company’s Scientific Clinical Centre in Western Russia, the other is the hospital at the Khabarovsk-1 railway station, which is the base for 18 health departments," said Oleg Atkov during the signing of the agreement, who added that the two sides could "learn a lot from each other."
In turn, KUIMS President Dr. Moon Suh Park said that Korea was pleased to expand cooperation in healthcare with Russian Railways. In particular, the university was interested in research on the labour psychophysiology of operating jobs, which is carried out at the Russian Railways’ Scientific Clinical Centre, and in studying the effect of electromagnetic fields on human beings using a unique Faraday cage to imitate magnetic storms of any intensity.
