OREANDA-NEWS. Transaero Airlines has received the award of Athens International Airport for achieving the highest percentage passenger growth in the summer period of 2012 within13th Airline Marketing Workshop held by the airport.

Transaero Airlines has been operating flights to Greece for over 17 years. The maiden flight to this country was made in 1995.

The scheduled services to Athens were launched in 2010. Transaero Airlines is the appointed carrier on the St. Petersburg-Athens route. The airline’s passenger traffic on this route in summer 2012 grew by 26% in comparison with the same period of 2011.

Transaero Airlines has carried more than 1.5 million passengers from Russia to Greece. Over the past five years Transaero’s passenger traffic from Russian cities to Greece increased 8.7-fold.
