OREANDA-NEWS. As of 1 February 2012, 175 Ukrainian banks (public joint-stock companies) had the licences granted by the National Bank of Ukraine for performing banking activity, 1 bank whereof was licensed to act as a remedial bank.

The banks' equity capital amounted to UAH 173.3 billion, or 15.2% of the banks' liabilities.

The paid in authorized capital of banks amounted to UAH 175.2 billion.

As of 1 February 2012, the banks' liabilities amounted to UAH 966.5 billion.

The main components of liabilities were as follows:

amounts due to individuals – UAH 372.4 billion, or 38.5%;

amounts due to economic entities – UAH 208.4 billion, or 21.6%;

interbank loans and deposits – UAH 113.4 billion, or 11.7%.

The breakdown of household deposits by maturity was as follows:

time deposits – UAH 298.6 billion, or 80.2%;

demand deposits – UAH 73.8 billion, or 19.8%.

As of 1 February 2012, the Ukrainian banks' assets totalled UAH 1, 139.8 billion. Total assets equalled UAH 1, 278.2 billion.

The breakdown of total assets was as follows:

cash, banking metals and funds with the NBU – 5.1%;

correspondent accounts with other banks – 7.6%;

loans granted – 63.2%;

investment in securities – 8.4%;

accounts receivable – 5.7%;

fixed assets and intangible assets – 4.2%;

accrued income – 4.2%;

other assets – 1.6%.
