OREANDA-NEWS.  February 21, 2013. In 2012 collective tourist accommodation bodies were visited by 268.2 thou. tourists, 9% up as compared with 2011.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, this number included 179.2 thou. of Moldovan tourists, or 66.8%, and 89 thou. of foreign ones, or 33.2%. The number of tourists from abroad grew 18.6%. In 2012 as compared with 2011 there was an increase in a number of tourists accommodated at tourist villas, recreation camps and other recreation facilities (53% up), At hotels and motels (15.2% up) and at health facilities (7.4%up).

At the same time, in 2012 there was a decline in a number of clients of agritourism boarding houses by 1.1%, children’s camps by 15.7% and hostels by 11.5%. Classified by stars, in 2012 collective tourist accommodation bodies were visited by 133.2 thou. tourists, or 49.7% of a total number of tourists accommodated against 45.6% registered in 2011.

The greatest share in the total number of foreign tourists staying at bodies for collective accommodation fell on tourists from Romania (19.7%), Russia (10.4%), Ukraine (9.2%), the USA (7.1%), Turkey (6.5%), Germany(6.2%), Italy (5.6%), the Great Britain (3.7%), Poland (2.6%), France (2.4%), Israel (1.9%), Bulgaria(1.5%), Sweden(1.3%), Belarus (1.3%), Austria (1.3%), the Netherlands (1.1%), and Spain (1%).

In 2012 there were 1462 thousand overnight stays at bodies of collective accommodation of tourists, 2.7% up as compared with 2011. 87% of them fell on Moldovan tourists. Tourist collective accommodation facilities were filled 30.7% in 2012. In particular, healthcare facilities were filled 66.8%, hostels were filled 53.5%. This indicator was equal to 35.7% for children camps, 16.6% for boarding houses, 15.8% for hotels and motels, 14.7% for recreation camps, tourist villas, and other recreation facilities.
