Aramco Services Co Connects with New Qebsite
OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2013. Aramco Services Co. (ASC) recently completed a ground-up rebuild and redesign of the ASC corporate site at www.aramcoservices.com. The website’s theme is “Connect with Us” to encourage job seekers, suppliers, students and others to join ASC in contributing to the company’s success, reported the press-centre of Saudi Aramco.
Creating a more dynamic user experience was a key objective of the project, as well as addressing the challenge of ASC’s identity, which is rooted in a wide variety of roles and services with no peer company engaging in the same range.
The prominent home-page scroll features an interactive piece that describes ASC thematically rather than through its departments, giving visitors a better sense of ASC’s direction and purpose. A Google map showcases the broad range of ASC’s activities and the quality of its business relationships with other organizations.
“It is critical for ASC’s reputation and its activities to have a strong online presence,” said Ahmed Alzayyat, ASC president. “Both our business partners and our employees need a website that increases the value of the communication, and reflects ASC as relevant and interesting.”
The site leverages the latest technology by using an approach called responsive design for mobile devices and a Web content management system for regular and frequent updates. It also employs architecture that increases the site’s relevance in social media and online searches.
“This site accomplishes three important things: It’s a place for ASC employees to interact with partners; it’s a resource of the company’s approved information; and it serves as the venue for other online communications,” said Ali Al-Mutairi, ASC Public Affairs director.
Translations of selected content into Spanish and Portuguese broadened interest in the content to audiences, especially suppliers, in Mexico and South and Central America.
Security also played a critical role to protect against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks or other breaches of site security that could compromise content.
Currently under way is a parallel project to redesign the expatriate recruiting site www.Aramco.jobs as well as development of two new microsites to promote upcoming ASC activities, such as recruiting events and technical conferences.
The Web development project received support from ASC’s IT department as well as departments and divisions throughout the company and involvement from colleagues at other subsidiaries and Saudi Aramco. Employees were well represented in the site’s photography.
Constant maintenance, monitoring and evaluation keep a website effective. The site is being monitored with Google Analytics, and visitor surveys will be conducted to anticipate the needs of the various audiences so that their experiences continue to reinforce the world-class reputation of Saudi Aramco as the world’s leading energy provider.
An interactive map builds layers of information in a color-coded filter to learn more about operations and offices, projects and partnerships, industry collaboration and community outreach.
