OREANDA-NEWS. Viktor Vekselberg's Renova and Vladimir Potanin's Interros signed an agreement at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum Friday on the development of an international passenger and cargo hub at the Siberian city's Yemelyanovo Airport.

Under the agreement, Renova's Regional Airports Management Company will finance, build and operate a new passenger terminal at the airport with a C Level of service according to IATA standards. The terminal will be at least 40,000 square meters and be able to handle 2.25 million passengers per year. The cost of the project is about 5.5 billion rubles. Regional Airports will manage the operations of the whole airport with the exception of the cargo terminal.

Cargo facilities at Yemelyanovo will be managed by Interport Management Company, a subsidiary of Interros. Interport will also provide terminal cargo handling services, and equip the facility with apron machinery and specialized equipment. Interport will be responsible for expanding the cargo terminal's facilities to keep pace with growth in cargo traffic.

"We hope that the airport will soon get a major push toward further development. We already have the plans, drafted by Hochtief, our old partner, so we will begin construction of the terminal in the near future," Vekselberg told reporters on the sidelines of the forum.

Asked whether the terminal would be completed in 3-4 years, Vekselberg said: "It will be sooner."

Thirty airlines, including 28 passenger carriers and two cargo airlines, fly through Yemelyanovo. The anchor carrier at the airport is NordStar (Taimyr Airlines).

Krasnoyarsk Territory wholly owns LLC Yemelyanovo Airport.
