OREANDA-NEWS. Total gas sales volume by Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. for the month of January 2013 was 1,565.712 million m3, increased by 39.812 million m3 (2.6%) from that in January 2012.

In the residential sector, volume totaled 521.366 million m3, up 2.1% from January 2012, due to the increased number of customers more than offsetting the decreasing effect of higher two-month average temperature in December and January than a year earlier.

In the business sector (consisting of commercial, public, and medical use), the volume was 292.100 million m3, up 0.8% from that in January 2012, due to the higher operation rate on the part of existing facilities in spite of the decreasing effect caused by higher two-month average temperature in December and January than a year earlier.

In the industrial sector, volume totaled 540.293 million m3, up 7.8% from last year, due to the development of new demands following the commencement of new trunk lines and to the increased demand for power generation, etc.

Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies totaled 211.953 million m3, down 5.5% from last year, due to the decreased demand of wholesale gas suppliers.

The total gas sales volume for the cumulative period of April 2012 to January 2013 was 11,533.483 million m3, up by 5.8%.
