Mitsubishi Heavy to Supply Turbines, Parts to Saudi Power Plant
OREANDA-NEWS. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (7011) said Tuesday it received an order from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. for four 700-megawatt supercritical pressure steam turbines and generators, as well as boiler components, to be installed at an oil-fired power plant south of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Hyundai Heavy is the power plant's engineering, procurement and construction contractor. It is being built by state-owned Saudi Electricity Co.
Mitsubishi Heavy will deliver the goods from September 2014 to March 2015, the Japanese plant maker said in a statement. It didn't specify the value of the deal.
Supercritical pressure heavy oil-fired power generation provides higher generation efficiency than subcritical pressure generation and is capable of reducing heavy oil consumption relative to power output, Mitsubishi Heavy said in the statement.
