OREANDA-NEWS. February 14, 2013. The Ukrainians prefer domestic products over imported food. So, as of today the share of sales of domestic food in turnover of retail chains is about 95%. This was supported by the increasing of domestic production of basic food and implementation of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (НАССР).

Following the results of 2012, Ukraine increased food production and the amount of their sales. Thus, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the industrial production index of the production of food, beverages and tobacco products in Ukraine in the past year amounted to 101.5% compared with 2011. In turn, sale of food, beverages and tobacco products increased by 9.6%. However, the Ukrainians increasingly trust the quality of domestic products.

"At present, the share of sales of domestic food in turnover of retail chains is about 95%. Another important indicator is the fact that the Ukrainians consume about 90% of food produced in Ukraine," the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk noted.

In turn, the increasing of the confidence of Ukrainians to domestic food happened due to reforming the food industry started by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, in particular the areas of product safety. Therefore, the domestic food companies have already begun gradually to introduce the control system of food safety HACCP. After the adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On the quality and safety of food products," HACCP will gradually be introduced as by exporting companies and by those, who work at the domestic market.
