OREANDA-NEWS. February 14, 2013. In late January, Factory № 14 owned by the Aikhal Mining and Concentration Mill, which is a business unit of ALROSA, recovered a diamond 145.44 carats in size, reported the press-centre of ALROSA.

The diamond was brought to grass from the depths of the Yubileynaya Diamond Pipe. Its dimensions are 35.0 x 20.0 x 26.0 mm. This is a crystal in the shape of an octahedron, transparent, with a yellow hue. There are small graphite-sulfide inclusions in its periphery. A production induced scuff is seen on one of its peaks and one of its facets has a shallow crack.

According to experts from ALROSA’s Diamond Sorting Center, this stone may be valued at USD1 million if put on auction.

Thanks to the technological arrangements undertaken by ALROSA, the company managed to improve diamond safety and reduce the number of affected gems. The integrity of this particular diamond is a testimonial to the well-established workmanship of miners and dressers and a high level of technological equipment.
