OREANDA-NEWS. At the Research Institute of China Development Bank in Sanya, China took place the thematic Workshop of the Interbank Consortium of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The workshop was attended by the representatives of the SCO Interbank Consortium member banks - China Development Bank, Bank for Development and Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (Vnesheconombank), State Savings Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan "Amonatbank", the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Development Bank of Kazakhstan, RSK Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The participants of the workshop discussed strategic development of the Consortium as well as regional financial and economic cooperation within the SCO in the format of bilateral and multilateral negotiations.

The main topic for discussion between Belarus and China was the participation in such major projects as the construction of the China-Belarus Industrial Park, hotel "Beijing" and many other projects. Special attention was paid to the servicing by Belarusbank organizations that support these projects in the Republic of Belarus, the expansion of mutual work in the field of financing SMEs, and organization of banks staff training.

The SCO Interbank Consortium was founded on 26 October, 2005. The main activity of the association is focused on support of regional economic cooperation within the SCO. Belarusbank received the status of "partner bank" of the SCO Interbank Consortium in June 2012. This joining created the most favorable conditions for raising of joint business between Belarusian companies and their counterparts in the member countries of the SCO with the use of various SCO Interbank Consortium financial instruments.
