OREANDA-NEWS. KAMAZ’s project KAMATEYNER can become the basis for cargo transportation in Tatarstan within the frameworks of the Kama Territorial Production Cluster.

This was discussed during a meeting on the project “KAMATEYNER System for Relay Cargo Transportation” which was attended by Midkhat Shagiakhmetov, Minister of Economy of Tatarstan, Sergey Kogogin, General Director of OJSC KAMAZ and the company’s top managers. The Kama Territorial Production Cluster includes five districts of Tatarstan with a total area of over 7,500 square kilometres. It is the largest center of industrial production in Tatarstan which annually ships products for RUB 600 billion. According to experts, the KAMATEYNER project can increase economic performance by 6-7 percent there.

It will be recalled that the KAMATEYNER project launched by KAMAZ in 2012 consists in relay cargo transportation using all-purpose containers – swap bodies. Swap bodies are fitted with up-folding legs under their frame, to make it possible to change or “swap” their body from one carriage to another, or to leave the swap body at a destination, without using a crane or hoist. Their advantage over ISO containers is their greater width (two Euro-pallets in a row), length and volume, which enables them to compete with euro trucks. Swap bodies will be manufactured by KAMAZ’s subsidiaries in Bashkortostan – JSC Neftekamsk Automobile Plant and OAO TZA. The line of the KAMATEYNER project will be based on the existing models of KAMAZ.

Due to this project, it will become possible to transport cargoes for a distance of 200-300 km. It will speed up product delivery by three times (to 1,400 km a day) and halve transport costs. It will reduce congestion, exhaust emissions (hence, improve the environment), and the accident rate. In addition, it will eliminate the risk of failure, downtime of vehicles and goods during transportation. The flow of goods in the delivery network can be tracked down with the help of telematics and control services (GPS/GLONASS).
