OREANDA-NEWS. JSC Latvian Shipping Company has won the grand prize in the Baltic Market Awards category “Most visible improvement in investor relations”. Baltic Market Awards are prizes of the stock exchange group NASDAQ OMX awarded in five categories.

Latvian Shipping Company is the only one of the winners in the five categories that has received an invitation to participate in the closing ceremony of a trading session of the NASDAQ stock exchange in New York and to ring the closing bell.

“By implementing principles of openness and good corporate governance in the past year Latvian Shipping Company has made serious progress in improving its investor relations. I am glad that we have been recognised in achieving such excellent results. This is the first time when a Latvian company gets top position exactly in this category – for the progress in improving investor relations. We are happy to be pioneers in this area”, emphasises Simon Blaydes, the Chairman of the LSC Management Board.

In the Baltic Market Awards project each company was evaluated by more than 120 criteria, and according to this evaluation, investor relations of JSC Latvian Shipping Company have improved by 34% during the past year.

Second place in this category went to JSC Ventspils nafta (NASDAQ OMX RIGA: VNF1R), which is the largest shareholder of Latvian Shipping Company.
