OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2013. Ukraine has fulfilled practically all requirements for the Association Agreement with Eurounion to be inked.

This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov during a joint press conference with the Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule.

“For now, in fact, all the conditions are created for the agreement to be inked. There is a desire of Ukraine, there is support of EU member-states contained in the conclusions of the EU Council of December 10, 2012. Ukraine confirms the devotion to the European choice – and not just in words but by concrete actions, by means of introducing reforms,” Mykola Azarov explained.

He also underlined that today’s meeting with Eurocommissioner concerned the state of implementation of the action plan on the liberalization of the visa regime and, according to the Premier, Stefan Fule positively evaluated acquisitions of Ukraine in this sphere.

At the same time, Mykola Azarov promised to take into consideration the results of today’s meeting in the plan of top-priority measures in terms of Eurointegration of Ukraine for 2013. He added that the following week the Government will approve the respective plan.

In his turn the Eurocommissioner called Ukraine to more decisive actions on its way towards European integration.

“Now, as was five months before, we speak about the fact that we must work more vigorously in the issue of Ukraine’s integration with Europe. We should make more decisive steps. The window of opportunities is open,” he told.

According to Stefan Fule Ukraine played a key role in the development of relations with the EU and demonstrated an example for the people and for the region. In this context he urged on Ukraine to advance movement towards the EU by means of introducing necessary reforms. “In these issues it proves necessary to take serious measures for the sake of Ukraine and its citizens,” underlined Stefan Fule.

The Commissioner noted that this year a joint target of Ukraine and the EU is signing of the Association Agreement. “It is a historical opportunity which depends on you and your actions,” he added.
