OREANDA-NEWS. The Thai unit of Japan's Honda Motor Co. is planning to invest 20.06 billion Thai baht to build its second assembly plant and expand annual production capacity at its existing plant in Thailand.

Of the total amount, THB 17.15 billion will be earmarked to construct the second plant with an annual capacity of 120,000 units and the remaining would be used to expand the output of the company's existing plant to 300,000 units in 2014, Honda Automobile (Thailand) President Hiroshi Kobayashi told reporters at a news conference Wednesday.

The existing plant currently has a production capacity of 280,000 units a year, up from 240,000 units last year.
