OREANDA-NEWS. February 08, 2013. Law enforcement officials and bankers have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This Memorandum will strengthen the information security of banks and at the same time educational Internet resource "Antykiber" has been launched.

This was started by Head of the Department of Cybercrime prevention of the MIA of Ukraine Maksym Litvinov. The press conference was attended by representatives of the Independent Bankers’ Association of Ukraine and the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

"Despite some positive results of fighting bank’s cybercrimes, their prevention remains a priority for the Ministry of Interior," Maksym Litvinov said.

Analysis of the Department of Cybercrime prevention shows that financial institutions are not the main targets of attacks by criminals, because financial institutions have more resources to protect themselves, and therefore they are not an easy "target". But now the bank customers are the main victims of cybercrime, so the Department of the MIA and financial institutions are natural allies.

Signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between law enforcement agencies and bankers will enable banks in on-line mode to exchange information about new types of fraud, harmful viruses and devices for stealing of the confidential information. According to the initiators of the project, it will help mobile and effectively counteract attackers.

It should be noted that the positive momentum in combating cybercrime is the lunching "Antykiber" web-site that give practical advice on how to avoid becoming a victim of cybercrime.
